ESTIMATOR

We are currently seeking an Estimator to join our established and highly motivated team. With clear objectives and the support of your fellow colleagues, you will be part of a successful team contributing to the development of many varying projects across East Anglia.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and benefits package as well as a full programme of training and development opportunities for your ongoing development.

Job Role

This role will be focused on advising, preparing and winning new tenders for the business. You will need to assist as well as manage the production of tender documents, attend pre-tender and post tender interviews and ultimately produce detailed and accurate tenders for all industry sectors up to approximately £8m.

Responsibilities

    • Liaise and support client engagement before, during and following the tender process to fully understand the client’s requirements.
    • Prepare and ensure tender submissions are submitted accurately and on time.
    • Conduct Take Offs and produce Bill of Quantities on projects up to approximately £8m.
    • Engage with supply chain to obtain accurate quotes for materials and services to establish true cost estimates.
    • Understand and scrutinise the supply chain quotations ensuring accuracy, value for money and resolve cost discrepancies whilst maintaining profitability.
    • Understand and present financial overviews of tenders and their value for adjudication.
    • Develop the Company’s current supply chain introducing new suppliers and subcontractors.
    • Help to develop new business by introducing new tender opportunities.
    • Work with existing pre-construction team to view project information, complete tenders etc.
    • Have a thorough understanding of project, scope of works and restrictions imposed by contractual requirements and site conditions.
    • Prepare a handover pack and presentation for the construction team when handing over secured tenders.
    • Work closely and assist with the pre-construction team on quality questions and further bid requirements.
    • Assist with completing PQQs and ITTs.
    • Communicate regularly and effectively to all team members.
    • Help ensure that the Company maintains its image for quality and value for money.

Knowledge

    • A strong knowledge of building industry practices, processes and requirements
    • Up to date knowledge of health and safety matters including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
    • Ability to communicate and interact with stakeholders at all levels
    • Knowledge of a range of different construction techniques, including sustainable and environmental construction their practical implications
    • Ability to work to timescales under pressure and in a fast paced environment.
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Possess a good level of practical skill in the use of Microsoft Office packages and estimating software e.g. Conquest.

Experience and Qualifications

    • Experience of working in an estimating/pre-construction department.
    • Good technical construction knowledge
    • construction related degree (preferred but not essential).
    • Good time management skills.
    • Full clean driving licence.

PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR

We are currently seeking a Payroll Administrator to join our highly motivated administration team.

Job Role

You will be responsible for processing our monthly payroll using Miracle Pay from start to finish and dealing on a day to day basis with all aspects of statutory pay regulations. You will be able to accurately demonstrate manual payroll calculations and possess in-depth knowledge of both Miracle Pay and statutory PAYE regulations including auto enrolment.

Ideally you will also have an accounts biased background and have an understanding of a wide range of accounts processes including sales and purchase ledger, accruals and prepayments, journals and double entry bookkeeping and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel products. Experience of the construction industry and subcontractor processes is beneficial.

You will be part of the Administration Team and be a point of contact for Managers across the business. You will also be supporting the Finance Director will all aspects of the Company accounts processes.

Experience and Qualifications

    • Educated to GCSE or equivalent (including Mathematics and English), ideally with some formal payroll qualifications
    • Previous experience of working in an accounting function and especially within payroll
    • Experience of working with Miracle Pay (Microsoft NAV)
    • High levels of accuracy and confidentiality
    • Experience of leading and directing a team
    • Good time management skills.

SITE MANAGER

We are currently seeking a Site Manager to effectively oversee day to day site operations to ensure client needs are met and projects are completed within time and budget

Job Duties

    • Understanding of health, safety and environment policies, CDM regulations and safe systems of work.
    • Organise the works to maintain a working environment that is safe and without risk to health in accordance with the Coulson Building Group Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems.
    • Maintain an up to date knowledge of Coulson Building Group’s Health, Safety and Environment procedures, for example hot works, emergency procedures and working at height, ensuring that these procedures are implemented when required.
    • Give all employees and sub-contractors precise instructions regarding their responsibilities for correct working methods and working safely. Ensure that individuals are not permitted to take unnecessary risks.
    • Carry out health and safety monitoring, arrange for any corrective actions, ensure that actions are taken and provide details to the manager responsible.
    • Ensure that individuals under your control are made aware of the health and safety precautions associated with their type of work, and that their place of work is safe through the provision of induction, training and tool box talks.
    • Carry out the reporting and investigation of accidents and significant incidents, recording as per agreed procedure, ensuring that Safety Director & Advisors are kept fully informed and involved as appropriate
    • Carry out appropriate risk assessments, including those for control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) and that control measures are implemented and maintained
